It’s full title is, “Your Sins Will Singe Your Soul; Your flames will burn your empire of lies.”

Bridge: A Good Marriage by Stephen King meets the Literary Casting Couch.

Synopsis:

Jack Schwimmer, once a religious and thoughtful young man, always dreamt of fame and fortune. Despite his virtuous exterior, he harboured deep-seated desires for attention and recognition. As a Literary Agent’s Assistant, Jack’s frustrations with his stagnant career led him to abandon his moral compass, plunging into a world of deceit and manipulation.

Growing up, Jack was the shy, unnoticed kid, obsessed with dreams of grandeur. He fantasized about being a suave spy like James Bond or a crooner like Frank Sinatra. His fantasies often featured Sindy Lou Appleby, his childhood crush who barely knew he existed, and the provocative stories from Nutty Cream Jam magazines he hid from his overbearing mother.

Jack's darker inclinations surfaced after an auto-erotic accident, revealing a latent thirst for control and power. Underneath his polite demeanour lay a sinister ambition. As he aged, Jack's hunger for success turned him into a ruthless and callous manipulator, eager to ascend the literary world.

The story begins with an older Jack, now a wealthy and powerful CEO of a literary empire called Broken Dreams and Spilt Ink. Smug and complacent, he recounts a small lie he told decades ago to secure a promotion to a literary agent. What seemed harmless back then spiralled into a pattern of deceit and exploitation.

Three decades later, Jack's past catches up with him. Ousted for his cheating and lying behaviours, the true extent of his deceit is revealed. His empire, built on the broken dreams of aspiring writers and assistants, begins to crumble. His wife starts to re-examine his quirks, suspicious trips, and relationships with young, impressionable writers and assistants.

The arrival of a determined private investigator threatens to expose Jack's darkest secrets. This investigator, once a young assistant dreaming of climbing the ladder, is now determined to bring Jack down. Her story unveils a far more disturbing reality than anyone imagined, turning entire industries upside down.

As Jack's carefully constructed empire of lies begins to burn, he faces the ultimate reckoning for his sins. Will his soul survive the flames of his own making, or will he be consumed by the very deceit that built his empire?
