Daddy Died - Jinx’s 5 Fathers!

The Law of Diminishing Returns.

Repetition and cyclical story beats done horribly wrong!

This is a free story building lesson for Riot Games.

If Arcane scripts were shown to a normal, functioning none-abusive company, who understood story writing, and without the billions of dollars to spunk away, Riot would be laughed out of the building. They’ve taken my cohesive story from Bloodborg, violated it to the bare bones, and disguised it as their own by shoehorning in their characters, learnt a few tricks by bringing in people such as Melinda Dilger (who had to build a basic org chart and taught Linke and his boy the very basics from beginning to end), then they’ve abused the hell out of the same few tricks over and over. Overuse kills literary devices and reduces them to silly and sloppy copy and paste jobs.

Arcane only works because of the French animation studio Fortiche Production SAS. Without Fortiche and the billions of dollars to toss around, and without my manuscript, Arcane is dead in the water. In suitable time, I’ll produce an article listing 100 reasons why. But in this blog I’d like to show the Law of Diminishing Returns and how the fake writers couldn’t come up with anything at all which deviated from the original source material (Bloodborg), wasn’t directly taught and already made for them by others (Melinda Dilger) or wasn’t taken directly from other shows, movies and stories.

I’ll use Jinx’s five dads to show this. Spoiler, In Arcane, across season 1 & 2, Jinx is traumatised over and over by losing not 1, not 2, not 3, not 4 but fucking 5 fathers. Oh yes my friends, 5 fucking fathers and three of them are the same soul brought back from death and mutation twice, then killed again.

It gets so convoluted and ridiculous that it’s a perfect teaching moment, of how not to progress – or should I say digress – a story. When done with absurdity like this, it doesn’t build the story, it renders the previous father and trauma obsolete and turns the next father into a caricature, a fucking comical parody!

In the opening scene of Arcane Season 1 Episode 1, we see Jinx's parents dead on the Bridge (scene lifted from Bloodborg). Her biological father- who’s name we later learn is Connol- is kind of left in the dark, the focus is on her mother’s dead eyes (lifted from Bloodborg) and her father is in the shadows. This signifies that daddy 1 is less important to the story, which is foolish, as Jinx’s relationships with her many fathers’ is central to the story.

We’re told and shown that losing her parents is the major factor in Jinx’s psycho-emotional instability. This makes sense, losing parents at such a vulnerable age of development is certainly traumatic for a child. Yet Connol (Daddy 1) is then all but wiped from the story. This is so traumatic, so damaging that he isn’t even shown in flashbacks of his life or time with Jinx. He becomes a cardboard cutout, throwaway trauma to serve the story. Later in the Blisters and Bedrock Season 2 Episode we get a backstory scene of Jinx’s mother Felicia in a quasi-flirtatious three way with daddy 2 (Vander) and daddy 3 (Silco). Yet Daddy 1 is so valuable that we don’t even get to see him on screen, not even for a single frame. But we do get a painted image of the back of his head whilst flashing through the adults old mining days. Thus Jinx and Vi’s biological father is afforded not even the respect of an appearance, less for the back of his head in a painting. This is, of course, a complete disrespect to fatherhood.

Daddy Died= 1.

Connol is tossed away, pushed aside, enter daddy 2. Vander (Warwick in Bloodborg) takes the fatherhood role. Yet he only lasts a whole three episodes until he is stabbed and pushed to his death by their nemesis, daddy 3 (Silco).

Daddy Died= 2.

But not to fear, as shimmer turns him into Mutated Vander and he survives, enter daddy 2.5. Mutated Vander is killed off 50 seconds later by falling to his death... again. Jinx accidently kills him, or at least created the conditions that killed him.

Daddy Died= 2.5.

Less than three minutes after Jinx sees daddy 2.5’s dead body, she leaps into the arms of daddy 3, their nemesis Silco, who had only just stabbed and pushed daddy 2 to his death. Six episodes later, Silco is accidentally shot and killed by Jinx.

Daddy Died= 3.

So daddy 3 is dead, but we see him again in Season 2, can you guess what he’s doing? Yeah you got it… he’s fucking falling. But don’t worry because he’s in water so it’s different, oh and he’s already dead-dead this time. But not to fear, as Warick the wolf, daddy 4- who used to be daddy 2- opens his eyes halfway through episode 4 of Season 2. Then in episode 5 of Season 2, the werewolf tracks down Jinx to kill her, but at the end of the episode he remembers he is daddy 2, so he doesn’t kill her. Then one episode later, episode 6 of season 2, daddy 4 saves Jinx, then 1 minute later forgets that he is daddy 2 again as he’s humanity dies, and he bleeds fire and transforms into a burning werewolf.

Daddy Died= 4.

Daddy 4.5, the burning werewolf, slaps Jinx to the ground with his massive, clawed hand. So Jinx’s sister Isha shoots daddy 4.5 with an extremely powerful explosive. The same explosive which is so powerful that it blew up half of an apartment by bouncing against a skirting board. Thus daddy 4.5 is mincemeat.

Daddy Died= 4.5

Not to worry, we see daddy 4.5 again in episode 8 season 2, he has a few scratches and he’s asleep whilst he is being made into a bloodborg. Then in episode 9 daddy 4.5 comes back to life as daddy 5, the bloodborg werewolf, but he is different because he has a gold head. Alas, he has forgotten Jinx again. Alas, jinx pushes him. Can you guess how he dies? Fucking falling again. But not to worry because he might have remembered Jinx again as he fell to his seventh death.

Daddy Died= 5

Conclusion,

3 men, 5 fathers, died 7 times, 3 times by falling, 4 times by Jinkx’s undoing. Many Daddies Vanders forget Jinx and then remember her over and over! If that’s not the sign of showrunners who haven’t a fucking clue how to write, then I don’t know what is. This is what happens when endless money is spat at cheaters and talentless sticky-fingered thieves to violate a disabled and vulnerable writers trauma writing. I know it’s fantasy but come on, this is child’s play. Arcane is a mess, but it works, only because of the talent of Fortiche Production. Its such a shame because any real talent with the kind of money spent on Arcane and with the expertise of Fortiche, could have made a masterpiece. Yet we get five dead fathers and Jinx sailing away on an air boat. Fucking marvellous, wonderful adaptation of my work Riot… Not!

Guess what, In Bloodborg, this flooding back of D’borg’s past human self and emotions is depicted just before she dies. Guess how she dies? Bolts loosen, she is defeated, Warwick tries to hang onto her, but she falls into the dark abyss! Sound familiar?

Linke wrote nothing! Arcane is bloodborg reworked!
